Annie Last – Olympic Mountain bike racer
The client and their challenge
Annie Last is a professional mountain bike rider who has represented Great Britain at London Olympics, Commonwealth games and numerous World Cups. Her challenge was returning to top level racing after a prolonged back injury that stopped her from riding.
We began working with Annie in 2014. Initially the focus was on dealing with the injury and gaining confidence whilst she returned to training. This has now developed into a range of support, including getting the most out of training, managing life distractions and race day maximisation. We worked with her to develop a mental warm up that allowed her to perform consistently and continue to develop her skills to help her prepare for the next Olympic Games.
Annie was able to return to elite competition and has a better understanding of how her mind works and what she needs to do in order to get the best out of herself.
Annie won her first World Cup in July 2017 in Lenzerheide, shortly followed by a silver medal at the World Championships and gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
